Story

The challenge: Ride Across Britain 2022 - Lands End to John O'Groats. That's 970 miles to cycle in nine days!

I started road cycling (as opposed to commuter cycling) in 2020 when my post op knee required rebuilding. Safe to say I'm now hooked, seeking every opportunity to "lycra-up" and get out to the hills south of London.

My cycling obsession started just as my cycling addicted friend Andrew Winning became ill. Sadly he passed away on 3rd of August 2020 at St Christopher's Hospice at the young age of 49 following a devastating brain cancer diagnosis.

I never rode with Andrew. I really wish I had. But I think of him when I'm out on my bike and I remember the great times we had together and with our families. As I Ride Across Britain in September I'll carry Andrew's spirit with me for sure.

Raising money for St.Christopher's is so important. They made Andrew's last days so much easier. And it is a role they played a few years earlier for my mother in law Max de Boo - another great soul that we lost all too soon.

I'll be training hard over the next six months ahead of the 10th September start. Any help, support, advice and donations you can give me along the way is appreciated.
